I have been asked over and over again about my opinions on Terri Schiavo. I have had countless discussions with all sorts of people about this woman. My mind has been flooded with not only my own thoughts, but the words from other people.
Now she is dead.
What do I think now? What do you think will happen next? DO I think Mr. Schiavo was after the money?
My situation is totally different from that of the Schindlers and Schiavos, but in so many ways, things connect. I honestly must say that this is very hard for me to talk about, that every time somebody asks me a question I cringe because of how emotionally attatched I am to this. That when people decide to discuss it in the lounge at work, I wish I could just tune them all out ... I can't though, instead I am dragged into the conversation.
Well she was a person, a living breathing, thinking person. We have no idea the extent of her thoughts, just like you can't tell me what I am thinking of right now. SO many people were putting words into her mouth. They were taking her life and broadcasting it. They turned this woman's life into a spectacle and I hope that something comes of it. I hope that they continue discussing and come to a conclusion. I hope this pushes people into thinking about creating death and living wills, filling out donor cards and all of those other things.
Her husband was probably right when he said she would have never wanted to be seen this way, and that is why I hope conclusions are reached. I hope that this woman's struggle has done something to change the world.
How much of your brain needs to function in order for it to be thought well enough to live, or however you want to word it. Is there an exact amount? How can people against abortion be for letting somebody like this go? They are a fully formed human beings, their brain works, just not at maximum ability. In saying that, none of us use our brains to the full extent. I don't know, I don't think a battle like this could be based on such arguments. I believe that the husband had the right but I also believe that there was somebody there willing to care for her, so let them. AKA the end answer is ... I am torn apart and cannot make a definate decision. It is not me, I don't know and I am sorry I cannot answer all of your questions

During the time I was creating this post, the Italian media released that the pope was dead. Then they said he only had moments, nearly half an hour ago. I must say that we seem to be underestimating people a lot lately. In all truth, the pope is only a human that has been given a special title and role. I have more to say/post ... but I will post later on

this terry shiavo thing is so difficult because the media are so involved, making it something it may or may not be. first off, this living will thing, it doesn't exist. the only thing you can do is get power of attorney. find someone who you can trust to do what you want if you can't say for yourself, and get them power of attorney. next thing. when is a person not a person? it's so hard and it can go with right to die or abortion, and I hate to bring it up, but it must be. it's going to sound horrible of me, but I think abortion is wrong, but pulling the plug on someone is not. when you're not able to take in the world for all it is, why live? what is the point of living if you're not really doing it?

*I know the living will doesn't exist, but this event is making people more aware about such things.
*Of course the media is twisting it to all hell, but hopefully some good will come of it
*A person is always a person. Who are you to say whether or not a person has the right to live. You have no idea what is going on in their head, how do you know what they want. (Im using YOU as an example not pointing at anyone)
* I do not understand how you can frown upon abortion but not "pulling the plug on somebody".
That confuses me.

people talk about abortion like it's a woman's body and she can do what she likes with it, but if we're talking right to life here, what had the baby to say when the mother decided to kill it? now, I know that there are extreme circumstances that can be allowed for, but in general, abortion isn't cool, in more than one way, which I can get into if you want. the difference between abortion and pulling the plug is that though pro-choicers claim that babies aren't alive until they are actually born, they really are alive, and they have a chance to make something of their lives. this differs with those on life support because (and, again, I don't want to sound heartless here) they many times don't have any hope of being productive, and like I said before, what's the point of living if you're not going to live?

I take it you are extremely pro choice. I must say however that you are still confusing me. Yes an unborn child may develop, but who is to say that science will not have a breakthrough to save this woman? You cant even argue on time because there is 9 months for a child to develop and who knows what science can do by tonight... so I wont start on that ...
Anyways, I am pro choice and I am pro euthanasia ... Cirsumstance

I don't understand Gill, are you saying you're proeuthanisa as in you agree with Mr. Shiavo & that Terry should have died?
I don't think she should have personally, she could still react. Yes she couldn't better the fate of human beings, but she could notice things - they showed this clip of how her eyes lit up when her mom was in the room she wasn't a vegetable like they said. I don't know about you but my vegatbles don't light up when they see me. Personally, I think that if someone can react & didn't say in writing that they wanted to die who are we to dictate their life?
but I think I am proabortion - in that legalizing it can saves the lives of the mothers who otherwise would have to get a greasy "doctor" to do it & potentially risk infection & other nasty stuff.

Ps. I didn't post those other posts, just so ya don't get confused

I don't understand myself most of the time. Basically Im on the fence.
A) She should have stayed alive because it wasn't written, she is human and somebody was willing to take care of her
B) Her husband is her husband so I would trust he knew what she wanted.
C) The media had a field day with it. I'm glad it was in the media but not to the extent that it was

ALL IN ALL
It depends on circumstances and such.
